TwinSME Partners Meet in Łódź to Shape Practical Tools for SMEs’ Green and Digital Transition

Partners of the Erasmus+ project Twin Transition: Empowering European SMEs for the Digital and Green Future (TwinSME) came together in Łódź, Poland, on 21–22 April 2026 for a two-day transnational workshop dedicated to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in navigating the combined challenges of digitalisation and sustainability.

The workshop marked an important starting point which focuses on developing a practical system through which SMEs will be able to assess their progress towards the twin transition – digital and green transformation. The overall objective is to ensure tools developed within TwinSME are practical, measurable and closely aligned with the realities faced by European SMEs.

Partners discussed the main challenges faced by SMEs, agreed on key green and digital indicators, and worked on defining maturity levels and scoring methods. Working sessions focused on making the future framework practical and easy to use. Partners reviewed areas such as governance, operations, technology and organisational culture, and developed measurable indicators ranging from basic to advanced levels.

The second day concentrated on the technical development of the Digital Self-Assessment Tool, including scoring, data structure, GDPR requirements, hosting and technical limitations.

The results of the workshop will feed directly into the TwinSME Maturity Framework, Assessment Grid, Digital Self-Assessment Tool and User Guide, ensuring that the project’s resources reflect the real needs of SMEs and support their green and digital transformation.
